Commenting on the Prime Minister’s pledge to increase school funding, Lee Dargue, Liberal Democrat Spokesperson for Birmingham Ladywood said:
“Pledging £4.6bn for schools by 2023 is simply not enough. Over £12bn will be needed in order to “level up” the spending across the country.
“Our schools are now getting desperate. Some cutting teaching hours and some schools are having to ask parents for donations to help with basic equipment.
“Our schools need to be properly funded, not left to fend for themselves. Mr Johnson’s spending pledge doesn’t add up – perhaps we could send him back to school to learn how to count.”
